What are the few things that excite us about Christmas? The eve, the tree, the crib, gifts and the sweets! Every year people have been making the best of cribs and trees in Palghar district. Each year it’s a notch higher than the previous year. By looking at some of the cribs we would be flabbergasted!! Every year in Vasai-Virar, people from different villages come together and make cribs.
This year there was a YUVA Crib Contest conducted by Team BVA (Bahujan Vikas Aghadi) in which many villages had participated with full enthusiasm. Though the festivities began late due to curfew, our youth and adults from different villages came forward with full zest, to create the nativity scene. Few of them are listed below:
Dhamami Papdy: The people of Dhamami, Papdy have set up an entire village with The Holy Bible displaying the Synod 2021-2023, at the centre of the crib. The perfect detailing in each section just adds beauty to the crib.
Naglai Talai, Sandor: As you enter the nativity scene, you feel the stars moving with you. With most of the things given a realistic touch, you feel it like a live village that you are walking into.
Christian Aali, Palle: Yet another breathtaking crib. A beautiful set up made with perfect detailing at every level. Not to forget the Synod theme included of everyone walking together.
These and many more villages like Kiravli from Palle, Sagarshet & Chittarbhat from Papdy, Vakhare & Dolbhat from Sandor, Yerodi Wadi & Jeevan Wadi from Merces, Mukti Wadi & Gaiwadi from Remedy etc. participated in the contest.
The winner of the YUVA Crib Contest was Kokramwadi at Casa De Joe, Vasai West. This crib was beyond imagination. From the time the angel appeared to Mary, till the birth of Jesus, every moment was created for a realistic imagination. Every scene had a live animation.
The movements of animals and people made the entire nativity scene more mesmerizing. The market place had the butcher shop, the goldsmith, the potter, a man fishing and many more which were given a realistic touch. The man flying a kite and a kid swaying on the swing, children on a see-saw, all these and much more were just fascinating. The Synod 2021-2023 was showcased very interestingly in the nativity scene with the priest moving in front of all the people gathered to walk together. The Synod theme and mission that included the communion, participation and working together was perfectly placed. Overall, a beautiful and enchanting nativity scene.
Christmas is a festival, where people from different villages in the Palghar district, remove time from their busy schedule, and get engaged in this charismatic activity of making cribs and creative Christmas trees. Apart from people of Christian faith, those from other faith too come together for crib-making. Christmas- A festival which brings not only families but communities together.
